Jake Dongyoung Shim
シム・ジェイク・ドンヨンは、イサン・ユン国際ヴァイオリンコンクールで「ユン・イサン賞」を受賞し、国際的な注目を集めた。彼は、決勝でユン・イサンの《ヴァイオリン協奏曲（1992）》を演奏して入賞した初のヴァイオリニストであり、この作品が決勝で演奏されたのは実に22年ぶり。
2020年シュトゥルベルク国際弦楽コンクール（アメリカ・ミシガン）で第1位およびバッハ賞を受賞、2022年珠海国際モーツァルト・コンクール（中国・珠海）、2020年アーヴィング・M・クライン国際弦楽コンクール（アメリカ・サンフランシスコ）でも入賞。さらに、2022年フリッツ・クライスラー国際ヴァイオリンコンクール（オーストリア・ウィーン）2020年J・S・バッハ国際コンクールでも入賞している。
2024年のイサン・ユン国際ヴァイオリンコンクールで「ユン・イサン賞」と第3位受賞を受賞した他、ジェイクは、ソニー・クラシカルと契約し、デビュー・アルバムの制作とプロモーションにも取り組んでいる。
来シーズンには、ソリストとして、ベルリン放送交響楽団、ソチョ・フィルハーモニック管弦楽団、ボルティモア室内管弦楽団、シンフォニー・イン・Cと初共演する他、カラマズー交響楽団と再共演する。
これまでに、ヴェルビエ音楽祭のサル・デ・コンバン、カーネギー・ホール、リンカーン・センター、ジョーダン・ホール、クムホ・アート・ホール、ソウル・アーツ・センター・コンサートホール、ウィーン楽友協会、アリス・タリー・ホールなどの会場を含む、3つの異なる大陸でデビュー公演を行った。
ジェイクは、ラ・ホーヤ音楽協会のサマーフェスト、ヴェルビエ音楽祭ソリスト・アカデミー（スイス）、パールマン・ミュージック・プログラム、シュレスヴィヒ＝ホルシュタイン音楽祭、NUMEアカデミー＆フェスティバル、ハイフェッツ国際音楽研究所アシュケナージ室内楽セミナー、リンカーン・センター室内楽協会スプリング・フェスティバルなど、数々の室内楽音楽祭に出演し、キム・カシュカシャン、モリー・カー、デイヴィッド・フィンケル、ウー・ハン、アルノー・シュスマン、サラ・チャン、イツァーク・パールマンなど、著名な音楽家と共演している。
近年の受賞歴に加え、ストラディヴァリウス国際ヴァイオリンコンクールでも第1位を受賞している。
前シーズンには、カラマズー交響楽団、ボルティモア室内管弦楽団、統営（トンヨン）・フェスティバル・オーケストラ、中央音楽学院管弦楽団、中部フィルハーモニー交響楽団、ソウル・ヴィルトゥオージ・チェンバー・オーケストラ、プサン・フィルハーモニー交響楽団、スウォン・フィルハーモニック管弦楽団、サラ・チャン＆ヴィルトゥオージ・オーケストラ、韓国室内管弦楽団など、数多くのオーケストラとソリストとして共演を果たした。
現在、ジェイクは全額奨学金およびトービー・アムステルダム・フェローシップを受けてカーティス音楽院のアーティスト・ディプロマ課程に在籍し、アイダ・カヴァフィアンとシュムエル・アシュケナージに師事している。これまでに、タン・ファミリー教育助成金と学部長奨学金を受けてニューイングランド音楽院でドナルド・ワイラースタインに、パールマン・ミュージック・プログラムでイツァーク・パールマンに、イェウォン芸術大学およびソウル芸術高等高校でイ・キュンスンとキム・ヒョナに師事した。
韓国のSooYoung Art Tradeより貸与された1711年製D. モンタニャーナ、日本音楽財団より貸与されたストラディヴァリウス1700年製ヴァイオリン「ドラゴネッティ」を使用している。

Jake Dongyoung Shim
Jake Dongyoung Shim gained international recognition winning the 'Isang Yun Prize' at the ISANGYUN International Violin Competition, being the first to win the competition by playing Yun’s Violin concerto (1992) at the final. It was the first time in 22 years that the piece was performed at the final round. After winning 1st Prize and Bach Prize at the 2020 Stulberg International String Competition in Michigan, United States and prizes at the 2022 Zhuhai International Mozart Competition in Zhuhai, China, and at the 2020 Irving M. Klein International String Competition in San Francisco, United States, he recently won a prize at the 2022 F. Kreisler International Violin Competition in Vienna, Austria. Jake was also one of
the Laureates at the 2020 J. S. Bach Competition.
In addition to winning the 'Isang Yun Prize' and 3rd prize at the 2024 ISANGYUN International Violin Competition, the SONY Classical Records will be working with Jake to produce and promote his début album.
In the upcoming season, Jake will make his debut as a soloist with the Rundfunk- Sinfonieorchester Berlin, Seocho Philharmonic Orchestra, Baltimore Chamber Orchestra, Symphony in C, as well as return with the Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra.
He also gave debut performances on three different continents including venues such as Salle des Combins at Verbier Festival, Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Jordan Hall, Kumho Art Hall, Seoul Arts Center Concert Hall, The Musikverein in Vienna, and Alice Tully Hall.
Jake has appeared at chamber music festivals including the La Jolla Music Society SummerFest, Verbier Festival Soloist Academy, Perlman Music Program, Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival, NUME Academy&Festival, Heifetz International Music Institute’s Ashkenasi Chamber Music Seminar, and Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center’s Spring Festival, performing alongside esteemed musicians such as Kim Kashkashian, Molly Carr, David Finckel, Wu Han, Arnaud Sussmann, Sarah Chang, and Itzhak Perlman.
In addition to his recent awards, he is also the 1st Prize winner at The Stradivarius International Violin Competition.
Last season, he appeared as a soloist with numerous orchestras including the Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra, Baltimore Chamber Orchestra, Tongyeong Festival Orchestra, Central Conservatory of Music Orchestra, Chubu Philharmonic Orchestra, Seoul Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra, Busan Philharmonic Orchestra, Suwon Philharmonic Orchestra, Sarah Chang&Virtuosi Orchestra, and Korean Chamber Orchestra, among many others.
He is currently an Artist Diploma candidate at the Curtis Institute of Music with a full scholarship and Tobe Amsterdam Fellowship studying with Ida Kavafian and Shmuel Ashkenasi. His former teachers include Donald Weilerstein at the New England Conservatory where he studied with a Tan Family Education Grant and Dean’s Scholarship, Itzhak Perlman at the Perlman Music Program, and Kyung Sun Lee and Hyuna Kim at the Yewon Arts School and Seoul Arts High School.
He plays the 1711 D. Montagnana, on generous loan from the SooYoung Art Trade in Korea and Stradivarius 1700 Violin “Dragonetti” on generous loan from the Nippon Music Foundation.
